The trigger can be linked to the wash process or another reliable control input. The best method depends on the site’s equipment and operating procedure.

What happens if power fails?

The required safe position and alarm response should be defined during design. It depends on the valve arrangement, site drainage and environmental risk.

Is this the same as first flush?

No. Demand-driven systems respond to active washing, while first-flush systems manage initial rainfall runoff from an exposed catchment.

Can it operate with an oil water separator?

Yes, where oil separation is appropriate, but flow, solids, detergents and storage need to be assessed as a complete treatment train.
